Leanne Mays
Leanne Mays is a graduate of the University of Kentucky Physician Assistant Program and has been a certified Physician Assistant since 2005. Her early career was spent in Family Medicine, caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds, in rural Kentucky and Pennsylvania. She later discovered her passion for Women’s Health and STI prevention while working in North Carolina Public Health Departments. Educating patients about their bodies, reproductive and sexual health has been the most rewarding aspect of her career.
Leanne enjoys working in telehealth because she can meet patients where they are, at any time of the day or night. Telehealth breaks down barriers that many patients experience when accessing reproductive and sexual health services —barriers of fear, anxiety, availability, transportation, cost and time can be reduced, and often eliminated, thanks to telehealth. She loves that patients can send a message anytime they have a concern, instead of the traditional clinical setting, where patients have to take time away from their daily obligations to come in for an office visit. She is motivated every day from empowering patients to be in control of their healthcare needs, in a safe and compassionate setting.
“I joined the Nurx team in March 2018 and have never been happier! I wake up each day and truly feel like I am making a difference in patients’ lives. I finally have work-life balance, which allows me to spend quality time with my family, friends and 6 rescue dogs! The support from the Healthcare Provider and Registered Nurse team is superior to anything I have experienced in a traditional clinical setting. We truly provide high quality, team-based care, and follow evidence-based guidelines for utmost patient safety. It is rewarding to be part of a team with a mission to provide patient-centered, safe, and non-judgmental care to all.”
