Femynor

Femynor prevents ovulation by inhibiting the release of an egg from the ovary. Fertilization is prevented when Femynor thickens cervical mucus to stop sperm from reaching an egg. Femynor also acts to change the lining of the uterus to stop fertilized eggs from attaching. Fertilized eggs that don't attach are passed out of the body.

Femynor is available by prescription and may be covered by most insurances. Check with your provider see if Femynor is available to you.

Femynor should not be prescribed to women who have a high risk of arterial or venous diseases or if they are over 35 and smoke. Women who have diabetes or uncontrolled hypertension are cautioned to monitor changes to their condition while using Femynor. If you have uncontrolled hypertension or you are diabetic, report any changes such as elevated blood sugar to your physician. If stomach upset occurs, vomiting or diarrhea can shed the medication from your system. Take your medication after a meal or before bedtime to avoid upset.

If you miss a dose of Femynor, use backup birth control until your next cycle starts. Femynor does not protect against sexually transmitted disease or infection.

Allergic reactions are rare. If you experience dizziness, swelling of the neck or throat, or trouble breathing, get medical help right away.

Side effects are fairly common and typically dissipate with continued use of the medication. See your doctor right away if you experience serious side effects like lumps in the breast, mood changes, or severe stomach pain. Rare side effects can cause serious problems from blood clots such as heart attack or stroke. Get medical help if you experience chest or jaw pain, confusion, or trouble breathing.

Since hair growth typically goes through cycles of growth and rest, birth control pills can interfere with those phases and cause them to begin too soon or last too long. Women who are especially sensitive to hormones like estrogen may experience hair thinning or hair loss. If you have a family history of hormone-related hair loss, your risk may increase. Talk to your doctor about hormone dosage and the combination pills that will work best for you.

Because of the increased risk of blood clot disorders, it's wise to wait at least four weeks after delivery before starting contraceptives. Keep in mind that Femynor may interfere with milk production and it's not recommended if you plan to nurse.

Yes! Since Femynor is a combination pill containing progestin, it works to decrease the circulation of androgens which in turn decreases the production of sebum. These two actions keep pores clear to prevent acne and help skin clear and heal.

In some cases, oral contraceptives can inhibit the metabolism of other medications, including medications for seizure control and over-the-counter acetaminophen. Let your doctor know what medications or supplements you are taking so she can determine if Femynor is right for you.
