There are medications that you take when you experience a headache — some treatments are specifically for migraine headaches, some are for non-migraines.
For mild headaches, over-the-counter painkillers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil) do the trick. Some people find that non-medical interventions provide headache relief, such as drinking extra water or electrolyte drinks, lying down with an ice pack or their head or neck, or practicing relaxation or biofeedback techniques.
